From August 14-20, Britons around the country will be celebrating one of our nation’s greatest traditions with Afternoon Tea Week.

Brooke, Action for Working Horses and Donkeys is running High Teas For Gee Gees, a way to celebrate this quintessentially British pastime, and at the same time help working animals.

As Tricia Graham Co-ordinator of the Penrith & North Lakes Brooke community fundraising group, said: "I’d like to encourage the people of this area to hold a Teas for Gee Gees."

Lending some star-studded support to the campaign is Bake Off’s Extra Slice presenter Jo Brand, who has said: “Who needs an excuse to bake a cake? Well, if you really think you need one, Brooke’s Teas for Gee Gees fundraiser is perfect.

“This way, you’re helping improve the lives of some of the most vulnerable horses and donkeys across the world, and you get to eat cake. And spend some time with friends of course. You could have your tea party outside to make the most of the summer, or keep it indoors if you don’t trust the British weather. So grab the kettle, pop on the oven and raise a little bit of cash to help working animals.”

All you need to do is visit www.thebrooke.org and sign up for your free fundraising pack. To say thank you Brooke will send you bunting, banners, cake toppers and posters to make your Teas party one to remember.

Bake or buy you decide but we’d love for you to get involved and share your party pictures with us, so please tweet us @TheBrooke using the hashtag #TweetYourTea and become part of our cake community!

The above group welcomes anyone interested in helping at fundraising activities, please contact 01768 899746 or elainebrown7@gmail.com.
