The car park on New Road at Kendal has been there for as long as I can remember and I have lived in Kendal for more than 30 years.

To change it into an open space for the community may seem like a good idea, but who wants to sit next to a main road with all the noise and fumes from the passing traffic?

Gooseholme, on the other side of the river, is much nicer to sit and relax for walk. It could do with a few picnic tables though.

I agree that the car park could look better. Why not plant a few trees and shrubs along the roadside to screen it from the road?

Paint white lines for cars to park in, instead of a free for all.

That would mean fewer cars but if the buses ran earlier and finished later people could go to work and back on the bus. So again fewer cars to park.

As for the cycle lanes, it is annoying and dangerous for cyclists to keep having to cross the road to change from one lane to another.

Unless it is one continuous lane, on the same side, do not make them. They are impractical to use.
