Mr Rogers speculates incorrectly that 'the majority of the British Electorate' believes the European Union is unreformable (Letters, August 31, 'No overrun with carrier').
Only a minority of the electorate, some 37 per cent, put a cross against the voting paper statement 'Leave the European Union', a statement which made no reference to reforming the EU. Subsequent correspondence in the media indicated very diverse reasons for voting Leave.
Over the years the EU has seen a number of amendments to its terms and conditions, including a reduction in the UK’s financial contribution, so it is clearly susceptible to change or reform, even if the speed and direction of such change is a cause of concern to some.
