Just a short comment to add to the letters about the EU referendum. Of those who did vote, 51.9 per cent voted Leave and 48.1 per cent voted Remain.
This was not a very clear result, with only a 3.8 per cent difference. Of those who could vote, only 37 per cent voted to Leave.
If we had had a written Constitution, then any referendum altering our status would, I suspect, have required a two thirds majority to pass.
There is disagreement over whether the Referendum was binding, but since we live in a Parliamentary Democracy I am pleased that Mrs May has confirmed that the final decision lies with Parliament.
