HAVING spent the larger part of this year attending hospitals in Kendal, Barrow and Newcastle one would wonder why there is no level playing field in the services provided by NHS England.

While having to visit both Kendal and Barrow hospitals for the same illness and then being put on a long waiting list for treatment, I meanwhile received prompt treatment in Newcastle in a third of the waiting time.

It was also noticeable that both the medical equipment and the procedures were of a much higher standard in Newcastle and the medical staff more informative than in Kendal or Barrow hospitals.

Population wise, the Newcastle area is very much larger than that of Kendal and Barrow, yet the Newcastle NHS trust appears to run a very up to date efficient medical service and administration

Perhaps it's a situation whereby the Morecambe Bay NHS trust are not spending money efficiently in the right areas. I am sure that the Kendal and Barrow hospital staff do the best they can with limited resources, but if the administration is failing then this is passed on to patients resulting in a long wait for appointments.
