I WRITE to give credit where credit is due. In particular, the councillors of the South Lakeland District Council committee is deciding the outcome the planning application for the power station at Old Hutton.

It was good to see them exerting their authority in recognising the need to protect the distinctive drumlin landscape as it is an intrinsic part of the South Lakeland area.

It was also excellent for them to reference the Cumbria Landscape Character Guidance which SLDC jointly commissioned, in their reasoning because they clearly understand how that document is fundamental to Planning Policy CS8.2 relating to landscape protection.

I hope the planning committee will now continue to give protection to the recognised distinctive drumlin landscape in all its future decisions.
