DAVID Snaith (Letters, February 1 'Wires won't disturb peace') has obviously never used the Armboth road on the west side of Thirlmere, a lovely peaceful lane ideal for walks, cycle rides, etc.
The traffic on the A591 can be heard only as a gentle swish in the distance.
If Mr Snaith wishes to celebrate his 70th birthday with a zipwire ride, he could try the one at Brockhole - where the screaming can be heard from the top car park - or at Grizedale Forest.
