There are negative comments about the University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust on a weekly basis in both national and local newspapers and I feel that positive feedback should also be published to address the balance.
I recently had a small operation carried out at Furness General Hospital at Barrow (above), that required an overnight stay and the service I received from the surgeon, theatre staff and nurses was both professional and caring, which ensured that my stay was as stress free as possible.
While I appreciate that there have been mistakes in some areas of the trust's hospitals, these are now being addressed, and the majority of staff in Lancaster, Kendal and Barrow hospitals are efficient professionals working in difficult circumstances to provide care for their patients.
It is in everyone's interest to move forward and build confidence and morale, both for medical staff and future patients, and to give praise where it is due.
My sincere thanks to the cheerful team in the Elective Orthopaedic Unit at Furness General.
Mrs M. Leckie, Sedbergh
