OVER the next week or so we'll be able to see a real treat unfolding in the north west after sunset. Three planets - Mercury, Venus and Jupiter - will slowly come together in the twilight. It's not often that a trio of planets cuddle up together like this, so any clear night we get before month's end you should try to take a look at it.

This celestial extravaganza will be at its best on the evening of May 26. Look northwest at 10pm and you'll see the planets forming a beautiful triangle, Mercury shining above Jupiter and Venus. No telescope needed, this is something best seen with the naked eye or binoculars.
