THERE is a lot of fuss being made on the internet about the ‘Supermoon,’ which will rise on the evening of June. Some people - non-astronomers - are predicting that night's Full Moon will be spectacularly big and bright. Unfortunately, this isn't the case.
This month's Full Moon occurs when the Moon is at its closest point in its orbit to the Earth. But at best it will only look a little brighter and a little bigger as it rises up slowly from behind the fells and trees. And it definitely won't make people behave more oddly or more violently - except, perhaps, astronomers who are tired of countering nonsense about the Moon...
