Tomorrow (Friday) morning, between 8.30am and 10.40am, a rare and exciting partial eclipse of the Sun will be visible across the whole of the UK. Watching it will require a combination of great care, special equipment and common sense. Only special solar eclipse glasses or Sun filters will let you look directly at the Sun during the eclipse. It is possible to project an image of it through a telescope or binoculars but only if you know exactly what you're doing.
The best way to watch it is with us, at our Eclipse Watch down at Kendal's Abbot Hall Park, where we'll have telescopes and other specialist equipment to show everyone stunning views of the eclipse in total safety - weather permitting. The event begins at 8am, is free, and open to all ages.
