STILL no big displays of noctilucent clouds to report, so it's even more important now you keep an eye on the northern sky after midnight - there must be a huge display soon.
Venus and Jupiter are now drifting apart in the western twilight, but if the sky is clear this coming weekend you'll see them joined by a beautiful crescent Moon after sunset. On Saturday, look for a fingernail clipping-thin Moon beneath and between the two planets. On Sunday, night the Moon will lie to the upper left of Venus. You might need binoculars to find the Moon in such a bright dusk sky, though.
