CROSS your fingers for a clear sky before dawn on Saturday morning (November 7), because there will be something very special to see in the hours before sunrise.
Go out at around 5am and you will see Venus, currently the 'Morning Star,' blazing low in the east. Close by, to its upper right, will be Mars, much fainter but with a distinctive orange colour. Further along to the upper right of Mars you will also see Jupiter, shining like a bright star. But making a triangle with Venus and Mars will be a beautiful thin crescent Moon.
We don't get such tight groupings of the Moon and planets very often, so catch this one of you possibly can. No telescope is needed - it will be very striking to the naked eye, and will look stunning through a pair of binoculars.
