KENDAL Parish Church has launched an exciting new initiative aimed at engaging young people in the parish.
With lots of ideas and fun events in store, The Children’s Church is a Sunday school with a twist.
“Our work will follow the liturgy, but we will do it in a fun, messy and relevant way,” explained Holly Martin, the newly appointed children and family officer and a local primary school teacher. “The Children's Church will be held on Sundays, during our 10am service from November 30 onwards. All people need to do is to come to the service and the children will be given the opportunity to go off to groups, offering stories, games, music, art, drama and lots more.”
A big launch event is taking place in the Parish Church in Kirkland between 2pm and 4pm on Saturday, November 29.
People of all ages are welcome to come along for fun, games and a slice of Advent cake.
The event will also provide an opportunity to see the entries and discover the winners of the Children’s Church’s Christmas card competition.
Any youngsters that would like to enter should send a design portraying the true meaning of Christmas Kendal Parish Church, Kirkland, Kendal, LA9 5AF before Monday (November 24).
Entries will be judged in two age categories, under-8s and 8+, and the winners will receive cash prizes.
