Keswick & West Cumbria 0

Windermere 2

North West Division Three

WINDERMERE moved three points clear of Keswick & West Cumbria after a tense top of the table clash.

Both sides had their turns at dominating the game but Mere just had the edge with a first half goal by Harry Jackson and a second-half penalty corner conversion by Will Dolman.

Keswick & Wests saved off the line as Mere made the early running but they then went close with several well-worked chances of their own, and Dom Quill had to make a last-ditch tackle to keep them out.

The first goal came when Andrew Hartnett found Mike Hodgson, whose reverse stick strike was finished at the far post by Jackson.

But Matt Hartnett, Scott Santamera, Will Dolman and Tom Maloney had to dig deep in midfield to break up the Keswick & Wests passing game.

Fortunately, Dom and Keenan Quill, Andy Hartnett and Ben Scott were outstanding at the back when the visitors did break through.

Will Dolman's goal was fired low into the left corner, but the home side were still not done and goalkeeper Mark Nixon had to be at his very best to keep the score at 2-0 after a great run and cross by their skipper, Tom Morgan, before the final whistle.

Formby 3rds 4

Kendal 2

North West Division Four

A TRIP to old rivals and league leaders Formby proved a test, particularly with ther side reduced to 11 players due to injury.

A hardy Kendal played well for the first half conceding a solitary goal to a mistake from centre back Martin Boyd, which allowed the young centre forward to get onto his open stick.

Formby changed their formation in the second half and scored two goals in the first five minutes to make it 3-0.

But Kendal came back and over the next 25 minutes Davis scored twice to make it 3-2, firstly scoring the rebound off a Steve Barclay shot before following up John Stanworth’s effort to bring the side one behind Formby.

But with no fresh legs Kendal were stretched and a breakaway in the last minute gave Formby a 4-2 win.
