IN THE Bay Radio West Lancashire League many local teams saw their matches called off due to the weather.

One of the few games to go ahead was Crooklands Casuals Premier Division clash with Thornton Cleveleys, with the home team winning 2-1.

Coach Jonathan Lowes gave himself a rare start and his quality on the ball settled his teammates.

Both sides threatened in the first half hour before Casuals best move of the game led to Jonathon Jones finishing superbly.

Just before half time a 25-yard free-kick skidded past Chris Lavery in the home goal.

Within ten minutes of the restart the ball was fed to Dave Goude who twisted past challenges on the edge of the box before curling a strike past the keeper.

Goude was sent off on 80 minutes but with the help of fresh legs from the bench Crooklands hung on for the three points.

In the same division Slyne with Hest won 2-0 at Fleetwood Hesketh.

In Division 1, Ambleside United’s game with Turton was called off, as was Dalton United’s match against Norcross and Warbreck, but Furness Rovers grabbed a 3-1 away win at Hawcoat Park.

In Division 2 the outstanding result came from Askam United who thrashed Walney Island 11-2, while Kendal County drew 0-0 at Croston Sports.

Furness Cavaliers and GSK Ulverston Rangers saw their game called off, and Milnthorpe Corinthians lost 5-0 at home to Leyland United.

In the Division 2 Reserves league, matches between Slyne with Hest Reserves and Lytham Town Reserves, and Turton Reserves and Milnthorpe Corinthians Reserves were called off.
