IT WAS a case of hit and hope for Penrith but they couldn’t quite score despite their possession against Kendal 2XI.

After nine minutes there was a short corner for Kendal and the ball came to Vicky Atkinson, but she missed.

Shortly after Atkinson had another chance, her shot was deflected off a Penrith player and Catharine Niblock blasted into the back of the net to put Kendal in front.

At the end of the match there was a brilliant shot from a Penrith player but her effort went wide of the post, and Kendal held on to a superb 1-0 success that helps them leapfrog Penrith into sixth.
