KENDAL County got back to winning ways with a hard fought 1-0 victory on Saturday in a South Cumbrian derby against Gsk Ulverston Rangers.

It was a battling performance from the rivals as both midfields cancelled each other out, with chances falling few and far between.

Gary Hartley made the most of his opportunity when he scored after 30 minutes but apart from that, both keepers were not stretched and County were able to hang on to their first league victory since a 3-0 win over Whinney Hill on September 22.

Milnthorpe Corinthians remain bottom of the table after they were brushed aside 5-1 at home to Walney Island.

Jordan Brough scored a hattrick with Chris Newsham and Will Bolton getting on the scoresheet, while the goal for the Corinthians came from a John McGinley own goal.

Dalton United were knocked out of the West Lancashire Football League Presidents Cup as they lost 3-2 on penalties to Furness Rovers.

Gareth Jones and Dean Crossman got the goals for United, with Rovers scoring through Jack Haughian and Steve Crompton, but Dalton came unstuck in the shootout.
