KENDAL A battled hard playing league leaders Windscale B but were unable to oust them, going down 2-3 in tough tussle in the Cumbria Squash League.
Andy Chant in four and Shaun Doran in five games were Kendal’s winners, while Windscale took the third, fourth and fifth string rubbers.
The B team continued their winning ways, prevailing 3-2 at Cockermouth.
At number one, Steve Couper clawed his way back from two games down to clinch a nail-biting win 3-2.
Captain Shayne Holliday won 3-1 with Joel Howse coming out on top in a five game battle.
In the ladies league, Carlisle moved into top spot after trouncing Kendal 4-1.
The visitors’ young team proved too strong for Kendal for whom Penny Hitchin was the only winner after a hard-fought five-game match.
