KENDAL swimmers came away from the final round of Cumbria A.S.A’s autumn series of graded Age Group competitions in Carlisle with three Speeding Tickets and 19 medals.

Leading the squad's successes were two of the club’s up and coming stars, 12-year-olds Emily Reay and Brodie Swallow.

Reay’s finest effort came from the 200m breaststroke, where she used her ever-increasing strength to get a stunning start and came through for an outstanding win and a Speeding Ticket.

She then produced swims from the gods in 100m and 200m butterfly, breaking away to put herself on the front to burn off the opposition and take gold in both events.

The 400m freestyle saw her in the mix with Sophie Dodd (Carlisle) and Jasmin Pratt (Workington) and although Dodd got away to claim gold, Reay held off all challengers ahead of Pratt to take a well-deserved silver medal.

Swallow on the other hand took most of her reward from the shorter events, in particular showing her all-round ability to get a Speeding Ticket in the 100m Individual Medley.

She then got caught up in a real battle in the 200m backstroke with Charlotte Stamper (Copeland) and Louisa Sinclair (Carlisle). They matched each other stroke for stroke and Swallow had to use all her skill and superb talent to keep them at bay. In a storming finish she just managed to hold off her rivals to snatch the win.

Two more fine swims brought her silvers for 50m freestyle and 100m butterfly to take her personal haul from the whole series to eight medals and a Speeding Ticket.

The third Speeding Ticket of the day was won by County swimmer Ollie Sargeant, who was absolutely superb, displaying great concentration and lots of youthful exuberance to triumph over his rivals.

An in-form Christopher Stainton continued to shine in a year where he has notched up more than 40 PBs. He gave a highly technical swim in the 100m IM to win gold.

He also notched up silvers in the 50m backstroke and 100m breaststroke, including a PB in the latter.

Olivia Williams burst on the scene with an outstanding win in the 200m backstroke before adding the silver medal for 100m IM to her collection.

Silver and bronze medals went to Laura Garrick (50m freestyle and 200m backstroke) and Daniel Armstrong (100m backstroke and 100m IM).

Jane Day was another silver medal winner with a great swim in the 200m breaststroke.

Well-earned bronze medals went to newcomer Josie Johnson (100m IM), Ella Mounsey (100m freestyle) and Lauren Domville (200m breaststroke), while fine supporting swims came from Emily Westmorland, Alex Agliolo, Zoe Webster, Hannah Edwards, Scott Womack and Harry Denney.
