TWELVE trophies and six medals were won by Windermere Shotokan Karate Club when they competed in the 28th Kyu Grade Championships at Prestatyn.

Kelly Graves reigned supreme in the senior ladies ippon kumite, and also picked up third in the senior ladies kata, with club-mate Amy Corbett winning the category.

Graves was also awarded the ultimate honour of the ladies trophy for the most outstanding ettiquette shown throughout the competition.

Members had been undertaking additional training over the last few weeks to prepare for the Prestatyn event and were able to reap the rewards, with Jan Salazar another if the victors as he was first senior male kumite and second senior male kata.

This may also be the last time some of these members are eligible to compete in this competition as they are striving towards the coveated Black Belt - Dan Grade later this year which makes them ineligible for this competition in the future.

Other impressive individual performances included Luke King (second youth kata), Shannon Lafferty (fourth youth kata and second female youth kumite), Dang Nguyen (third senior male kata) and Callum Theiss (semi-finals of the peewee kata and kumite).
