Kendal 38, Altrincham Kersal 10.
It was try and try again as Kendal ran in seven scores against Altrincham, who arrived at Mint Bridge as strong favourites on the back of seven straight victories including a 36-15 win over Kendal last month.
The home side had learned the lesson of over-ambitious play which threw away possession on Kersal's ground and instead gave the Cheshire side a lesson in forward strength.
Kendal played it tight and by half-time were 18-0 up thanks to three pushover tries and a penalty from Patrick Tuhakarina.
Equally importantly the Kersal pack were out on their feet before the half-time whistle and as the home pack rampaged on in the second half it was only strong defensive tackling which stopped Kendal racing past the 50-point mark.
The visitors' strong back did break out twice with classy looking tries, but Kendal were never in serious danger.
Victory takes Kendal into the Christmas break sitting at third place in the North Division One table behind Caldy and Beverley.
