KENDAL firm Gilkes – the official shirt sponsor of Kendal Town FC – will compete against the Mintcakes in a friendly fixture at Parkside Road on Sunday, kick-off 1pm.

The Kendal side will be made up of senior players as well as under-18s while the Gilkes team will feature guest striker Michael Coulson.

The York City forward – who played for Barnsley in an FA Cup quarter-final against Chelsea – is friends with Gilkes manager Andy George, who is looking forward to the occasion.

“It should be a very good day with the overriding intention to raise money for some very good causes,” he said.

“Dave Foster and Michael Stringfellow will be playing for Kendal Town in a side which will be a mix of the past, present and future.

“The Gilkes team will be made up of employees from the firm, some Kendal County and Burneside players as well as Michael Coulson.

“I got to know Michael through motorbikes and he is coming along to play about 15-20 minutes as he will have played on Saturday and has another match on Tuesday.

Kick-off is at 1pm but the ground will be open from 12 noon to allow for pre-match fundraising with all funds raised going to Crohns and Colitis UK and Kendal Town’s CDS development section.

Tickets are charged at £2 each and are available to buy on the day or via Graham O'Callaghan on 07742 926398.
