STAVELEY Judo Club members Jamie Barton and Nathan O’Sullivan are British Judo Council National Kata champions after winning gold at the weekend.
Kata (Form) is demonstrated by two judokas who are marked by a panel of three judges, and are scored for technical ability of their techniques.
It is an aspect of judo which is growing in popularity in the United Kingdom although is less in the public eye than Shiai (Fighting) judo.
Coach John Barton was delighted with the duo’s performance in the competition (up to the age of 12 years old), which follows the area titles the pair won last year.
