KENDAL Cricket Club’s Tony George will undertake a charity bike ride this weekend alongside his youngest son, Daniel, with all proceeds going to Cancer Research UK.
With support from David Sykes, the duo will depart Penrith on Friday with the aim of visiting all 13 home Northern League cricket grounds – a route totalling 243 miles.
From Penrith, the pair head to Barrow before taking in Lancaster, Morecambe and the Fylde coast, with Preston, Leyland and Darwen the final venues ahead of their Kendal return on Saturday evening.
“Like many others, over the years I have lost family members and friends to cancer,” said George senior.
“I lost my best friend of more than 40 years, Bruce Ellison, at the end of 2012 so we’re undertaking this challenge in the memory of Bruce and everyone else the funds raised may benefit.”
