AN inspired Terry Hunte guided Kendal to victory as the Shap Road club ignited their TWP Wealth Twenty20 campaign despite the heroics of Barrow centurion Sam Dutton.

Hunte finished unbeaten on 78 as the home side chased down their 160 victory target in the 18th over, with Jamie How starting the Kendal reply with a barrage of sixes.

Barrow posted 159-6 from their allocated overs, with Dutton the star of the show with a magnificent 100, as How claimed 4-18 with the ball.

After being invited to bat, Kaustubh Pawar and Dutton ensured the visitors made a positive start with consistent boundaries seeing the visitors reach 47-0 after six overs.

Dutton smashed Lewthwaite for six over mid-wicket in the seventh over before the right-am seamer dismissed Pawar for 30, caught at gully by Shepherd.

How bowled Greg Reynolds for three in the tenth over before the left-handed Rhys Studt lofted the New Zealander to Parkin on the mid-wicket boundary.

Successive sixes off Darren Nightingale saw Dutton bring up his half century in the 13th over before How bowled Toby Mowat with the first ball of the 14th.

How then claimed his fourth and final victim as Barrow skipper Daryl Wearing departed for 12 after picking out Darren Braithwaite on the long on boundary.

Dutton clobbered Chris Miller for two sixes down the ground before guiding Adam Cowperthwaite through backward point for two to reach three figures.

Parkin bowled Dutton in the final over after eights fours and five sixes as Barrow finished on 159-6, while the Kendal reply started with a bang.

The hosts lost Shepherd in the first over of their reply, tapped in front by Daryl Wearing, although How and Hunte both cleared the mid-wicket boundary for huge sixes.

How’s assault on the Barrow bowling continued, with the 33-year-old taking a series a maximums off Daryl Wearing and Reynolds, while a six over extra cover brought up the Kendal 50 in the fourth over.

However, Reynolds had his man as How chopped on for 35 while next over Gary Baker was run out without troubling the scorers as Kendal endured a mini-collapse.

Braithwaite then played on to leave the hosts four down for 61 after six overs, with Graham Baker joining forces with Hunte.

Hunte’s six over the square leg boundary took Kendal beyond 100 in the tenth over while successive big hits saw the veteran batsman reach 50 off 26 balls.

Graham Baker played a vital supporting role and added 19 before holing out to Studt at long on off Daryl Wearing, with Hunte polishing off the remaining run to finish unbeaten on 78.
