Kendal 27, Liverpool St Helens 5.
Kendal progressed smoothly to the quarter-finals of the EDG Intermediate Cup with a blistering first half performance against a Liverpool St Helens side previously unbeaten this season.
All the scoring came in the first half, Kendal running in five tries, through Andrew Boardley (2), John Ladell (2) and Richard Harryman, despite playing into the teeth of a howling wind. Patrick Tuhakaraina landed one conversion.
The second half was something of an anti-climax with Kendal spending 80 per cent of the time doggedly, efficiently and sometimes desperately defending as the visitors fought fruitlessly to get back into the tie.
