BRADLEY Earl’s quickfire 39 proved too little too late for Netherfield as they lost out on a place in the final of the TWPWealth Area t20 finals losing to eventual winners Northern in the last four showdown.

Northern, who play in the Liverpool and District league, won the toss and elected to bat - reaching a total of 132 all out as Nathan Chambers took three wickets in the final over.

Earl, batting ninth, top scored for Netherfield who fell just 17 runs short of the required target to agonisingly miss out on a place in the final.

Openers Stephen Lucas and Davy Smith made 43 before Tom Williamson took three wickets in the seventh over to leave Northern on 53-3.

Smith (36), aided by James Cole, who top-scored with 40, guided Northern to 115 before Smith was caught by Mark Clarkson off the bowling of Nathan Chambers, who returned impressive figures of 5-6.

Just 17 runs were added to the final total in the remaining three overs as Williamson (3-13) wrapped up the innings with three wickets in the final over.

Field’s reply started disastrously as opener Craig Walmsley found himself back in the pavilion caught behind on the first ball.

John Huck looked to push on the innings and made 17 off nine balls before he was caught at long-on by Mark Walling off the bowling of Tomas Sephton.

Ben Phillips (11), Marc Brown (10), Williamson (4), Barrow (21), Atkinson (1) and Clarkson (3) soon followed leaving Netherfield on 71-8.

Earl came to the crease and hit 39 runs off 11 balls including five sixes but was trapped lbw by Ryan Maddock as Northern wrapped up a place in the final with just five balls left.
