MICHAEL Stringfellow has been named as the permanent replacement for former Kendal Town boss Dave Foster.
The former Morecambe defender and midfielder took over as caretaker manager last Wednesday when Foster stepped down following a string of poor results.
Stringfellow guided Kendal to their first three points of the season in a 4-1 win over Radcliffe Borough before picking up a 2-2 draw away at Burscough.
The club said tonight that 26 applications had been received for the job but felt Stringfellow was the best man to take the team to their play-off target.
"A careful selection process was followed based upon relevant playing and managerial experience, football qualifications, commitment, a network of contacts, being locally based, having a relevant day job and empathy for the club's friendly, inclusive and community based culture," read a club statement.
It added an assistant manager will be appointed in due course.
