WINDERMERE Golf Club's Adam Chapman has been selected to play for the ‘England Elite Squad 2015’.

Chapman, 19, who has had an extremely successful season, will form part of the 17 strong squad, who will now go on to undertake a number of training sessions throughout the winter to help them improve their game.

Tasked with making the selection were performance director of England Golf, Nigel Edwards, squad manager, Terry Casey and England Golf volunteers, Kevin Tucker and Bill Bromilo.

“We are delighted to have Adam on the team.” said England Golf spokesman, Stephen Burnett.

“He has had another good year, but his win at the South of England Open Amateur Championship in July really sealed the deal in terms of his selection.”

Father Peter, who also acts as his caddy, said: “We are all very proud of Adam. He’s had a terrific season and we are particularly impressed by how quickly he has made the transition from the boys’ England squad to the men’s England Squad. This normally takes a couple of years’, but he’s made the jump very rapidly.”

Club chairman Cliff Heath added: “It goes without saying that all of the members at Windermere Golf Club are tremendously pleased for Adam and his family.

"Progress towards the Walker Cup is indeed one step closer and we are all behind Adam in supporting his ambitions. We look forward to what 2015 has in store for him as an England player."
