Wakefield 4 - 0 Kendal

KENDAL ladies slipped to the foot of the Investec Conference North after a heavy defeat away at Wakefield.

Solid defence in the first half restricted the West Yorkshire outfit to just one goal at the break but added three second half goals as Kendal failed to convert their chances.

"We tried a change of tactic this week which worked really well for the first half," said goalkeeper Fiona Battersby. "We had good defensive play and some good tackles and saves stopped Wakefield converting any chances.

"They eventually managed to score making the scoreline 1-0 at half time but we were feeling positive as our game had dramatically improved on previous weeks.

"We managed to hold them off for a bit in the second half but eventually Wakefield managed to break through when we were out numbered at the back

"We had several goal scoring opportunities but unfortunately couldn’t convert

"Despite the loss we were positive about our game play improvement and are looking forward to our game this weekend away to league leaders Loughborough."

Meanwhile, Kendal's second team won 3-0 at home to Penrith.
