WESTMORLAND and Senior Challenge Cup holders Kendal County made it into the next round without playing a game as Dent couldn’t get a full side out for the contest.

In the other of the cup ties, Burneside made it into the second round following a 3-1 win at Shap thanks to a double from Dan Grindley and an Alec Hague strike.

Lunesdale Utd won 6-1 at Langwathby Utd while a Jamie Little hat trick inspired Keswick as they cruised into the next round with a 5-1 win at Unisun Athletic.

Last seasons runners up Ambleside won 6-3 at Kirkby Lonsdale. Kacper Kesy and Vince Bradley bagged a brace each while Steven Benson and Josh Walker also got on the scoresheet for Ambleside.

Chris Vincent and Josh Bateson scored the goals for Kirkby Lonsdale.

Elsewhere, Corinthians eased past Penrith Reserves 8-3 and Braithwaite put eight past Coniston.

Cartmel took the long journey to Penrith to play Pirelli who were unbeaten so far this season winning four and drawing one - but the home side couldn’t compete with an under strength Cartmel side, who progressed with goals from Sam Taylor, Adam Holding, Jamie Chick and veteran Matthew Burrows.

Cup action meant there was only a handful of fixtures in the Bluefin Westmorland Football League this weekend.

There was only one game in Division One as Kirkoswald moved up to second after winning 5-1 at Ambleside United Reserves with Nial Renwick scoring twice and Brad Renwick, Chris Tuer and Rob Whitton also on the score sheet.

In Division Two a Niall Wilkinson goal midway through the second half saw Endmoor pick up a 1-0 win over Kirkby Thore Rangers.

In Division Three, Burneside Reserves impressed in a 5-2 home win over Eden Thistle. Joe Stansfield,and Stuart Woods scored twice before Ethan Elwood rounded off a comfortable afternoon for the team from Hollins Lane.

Appleby moved up to fifth place in a 3-0 home win over Ibis Reserves while Greystoke were 3-2 winners at Lunesdale United Reserves.

Over in Division Four Eamont Rovers won 2-0 at Carleton Banks, Ullswater Utd won by the same scoreline at Greystoke Reserves while Border City swept aside Penrith Academy 4-2.
