Kendal gymnasts put the competition in a spin at the hardest competition in the North West.

Several members of the Kendal Gymnastics Club made the trip to County Durham to take part in the Pink Ladies Invitational at the South Durham Gymnastics Club on the weekend of October 11 and 12.

The novice senior team, made up of Emily Chick, Sarah Dixon, Chloe Sanderson and Jamie-Lea Trickett, came away with a silver medal while the senior level four team or Kerry Garnett, Florence Place and Victoria Trewenneck took bronze.

Individually, Chloe Sanderson claimed bronze on the beam with a clean routine and Kerry Garnett took silver on the bars.

Chris Wrigley, head coach, was delighted with their performance.

He said: "The Pink Ladies is run by the top club in the North of England Region and is attended by clubs from throughout the North of England and all over Scotland. It is probably the toughest competition that we enter and anything that our gymnasts win against the level of club that attends has really been hard earned. I was very pleased with the overall performance of our squad but, of course, it is always medals and places that ultimately count. We managed two apparatus medals and two overall medals which was a good return for us."
