WITH the fixture list dictating a week off for the B team, Kendal Squash Club A and C teams went into the proverbial lion's den when they ventured into the county’s squash stronghold at Carlisle.

Carlisle B, second in the league, won the first, second and third string matches three games to love against team debutant Garry Elliot, Steve Edmondson and Adam Holtham.

Kendal’s star performance came from Andy Chant who had a tight five game battle beating Will Box 15-8 in the final game.

At number five, Graham, Braithwaite was also locked in a tough close match, losing out by the same margin in the fifth, giving Carlisle a 4-1 victory.

Kendal C team took on Carlisle C with a similar result. The start of the C team was Joel Howse who squeaked a close first game by 17-15 and went on to bludgeon his way to a 3-1 win.

At number one, Christian Hoyle took the second game but went down in four. Gary Major, Russell Lilliebridge and Ian Garnett all lost in three games.

Clem Coady lost to Joel Howse 15-17, 10-15, 15-10, 12-15

Eliot Garden beat Ian Garnett 15-11, 15-2, 15-12
