AN ALL round team performance saw Kirkby Lonsdale's winning run continue as they move up to third in the North One West League.

The Underley Park side put in an away performance of the highest quality as they ruthlessly put Wilmslow to the sword in a six try away win.

Two tries from centre Tom Pickthall and one each from Jack Akrigg, Ben Walker, Dave Barton and Ryan Terry extended Kirkby's winning run to five games - three of which have been away from home.

Kirkby made a flying start to the game as Barton charged down a Wilmslow clearance kick on the twenty two yard line.

Akrigg gathered the ball, shrugged off a tackle then steamrolled the last defender before putting the ball down between the posts.

Terry made no mistake with the conversion and, with just four minutes played, Kirkby were 7-0 to the good.

Wilmslow replied with a penalty to reduce the deficit to just four points but Kirkby struck back immediately.

Barton was influential once more, running at Wilmslow from 30 metres out, bursting through tackles and running the ball home just to the right of the posts.

Terry converted yet again and the score was 3-14 after 20 12 minutes.

Kirkby were reduced to 14 men when the referee judged that scrum half Walker had interfered with play but Wilmslow failed to capitalise.

Terry soon found himself in the action again as the ball was passed to him out wide.

He ran down the line with pace and went over to score Kirkby's third try out wide on the right taking the score to 3-19 with 30 minutes played.

Things went from bad to worse for Wilmslow when, before half time, Barton undid their team again by breaking through and drawing the last defender before offloading to Pickthall who scored the bonus try.

Kirkby switched off on the stroke of the half way mark and allowed Wilmslow's number 12, Ollie McCall, to run through and score in the corner.

At half time is was 8-26 to Kirkby.

The second half was more of an even contest as Wilmslow battled to close the gap and Kirkby managed to fend them off.

Barton floated a kick behind the Wilmslow back line and Walker used his pace to hack the ball on, control it and score Kirkby's fifth try of the game.

Terry converted and the score moved on to 8-33.

Kirkby looked to have given the home side a way back into the game when some sloppy kicking handed possession to Wilmslow who ran in to score a converted try.

This fired the home side up and Kirkby had to weather some late pressure.

Terry then pinched the ball from a line out and passed it to Pickthall who ran in his second try of the game taking the score to an unassailable 15-40 with just minutes to play.

The rout was completed when Terry slotted a penalty between the posts.

It finished 15-43.
