KENDAL are in trouble at the bottom of the Premier League after suffering at the hands of Wigton.

Wigton travelled to Kendal and got off to a bad start as their number one player, Jonny Irving, lost in three games.

But Kendal could not maintain that start as Alistair Pease, Adam Holton and Graeme Braithwaite all lost in straight games.

Andy Chant then took the lead after a hard fought 18-16 first game but could not maintain this, losing 3-1.

This result leaves Kendal A languishing near the bottom of the Premier league as only themselves, Windscale and Dalton are yet to win this season.

In the first division a 3-2 win over Penrith extended Kendal C’s winning run to three successive matches, moving them up to third place in the league table behind Wigton B and Windscale B.

Penrith bagged the number one and two string games.

The number one saw Kendal’s Chris Hoyle went down 1-3 to Penrith’s Graham Silburn.

At number two Kendal’s Gary Major, a newcomer to the game, struggled to cope with the experience of old timer Richard Utting whose tennis serve and wily game had him foxed.

It was 3-1 to Penrith until Kendal's lower order redressed the balance by all coming up with wins in straight games.

The B team did not fare so well away to league leaders Wigton B, crashing to a 5-0 defeat with Ben Leil the only play to claim a game.

Dave Archer, Steve Couper, Ben Cook and Shayne Holliday all lost 3-0.

The B team have yet to win a game this season, a distinction shared only with Dalton.

In the Kendal Squash Club annual Mike McElroy memorial match the Not So Spring Chickens secured a win against a team of younger players.
