KENDAL Town boss Michael Stringfellow says he has spoken to his skipper Warren Beattie and goalkeeper Stuart Dixon after both conceded penalties to help Farsley AFC come away from the Lancaster and Morecambe College Stadium with all three points.

The Mintcakes were holding their own in the first half of Saturday's 3-0 defeat but two penalties, dispatched by Lewis Nightingale, and a late Aiden Savory strike condemned them to back-to-back league defeats.

And Stringfellow was particularly disappointed as those fouls, and subsequent goals, gave him little chance of gauging where his team is as they head into a difficult December period.

"In the first half we did well and kept our shape," said Stringfellow. "We knew they are a good footballing side and there wasn't much in the game so I was quite happy.

"We had a game plan to counter attack but it all changes if you make silly mistakes and give penalties away. I am a bit frustrated because I can't really judge where we are because of the mistakes.

"It was quite well set in the second half to see who would go on and win the game but now we go back to the drawing board and prepare for the next game."

He added: "Both were clear penalties and the mistakes have cost us. I pulled both of them up after the game and had a word because it can't happen again. I thought the back four was solid and the result didn't really reflect how they played.

"We have just got to keep moving in the right direction and building as a squad and as a team. I am always looking out to improve us and push towards the play-off places."

Kendal will be hoping to get back on track when they make the trip to the east coast to face Scarborough, who sit just six points ahead of Kendal, on Saturday.

"It is not going to be easy," said Stringfellow, "but our best performances have been against the top sides this season and they are types of games we need at the moment. We've done well against Salford and Warrington so that doesn't worry me who we are playing. I just hope we can prepare right and have the right mentality to give ourselves a chance and we never did that against Farsley."
