LEAGUE leaders Kirkoswald remain clear at the summit of Division One of the Bluefin Westmorland Football League after a narrow victory over Lunesdale United.

Kirkoswald had to work hard for the win in a very scrappy encounter as Lewis Renvoise scored the crucial goal midway through the second half.

At Fitz Park second-placed Keswick kept up the pressure on the leaders with a comfortable 5-0 home success over Carvetti United, who have amassed just one point so far this season.

Andy Frampton opened the scoring with a close range effort before goals by Jamie Little, Richard Bell Mark Lamb and Tom Atkinson condemned Carvetti to their sixth defeat.

Wetheriggs United are level on points with Keswick after a dominating 8-0 home win over rock bottom Ambleside United Reserves.

Elsewhere Kendal County Reserves sauntered to a 8-1 home victory over Windermere while the game between Sedbergh Wanderers and Kendal United was postponed.

In Division Two it was all about the cup as the first round of The Mason and Freeman competition got under way as Burneside progressed with ease following a 3-0 home win over Braithwaite.

A Shaun Gardner strike and Matthew Wilson double helped Endmoor into the next round after defeating Langwathby United 6-2. Jordan Kenny and Niall Wilkinson also found the back of the net for Endmoor.

Shap are also through following a comfortable 4-1 home win over Wetheriggs United Reserves at Memorial Park.

The matches between Kirkby Thore Rangers v Ibis and Coniston v Keswick Reserves were both postponed.

In Division Three Kendal United Reserves picked up a crucial 4-2 home win over Lunesdale United Reserves. Danny Craig scored twice, with James Gordon and James Pattison also on the score sheet.

Ibis Reserves also took three points with a narrow 3-2 win at Windermere Reserves while at The Sheepmount Athletic Stadium, Eden Thistle picked up a narrow 3-2 home win over league leaders Dent, a result which sees Thistle climb up to 4th whilst Dent suffered their second consecutive defeat.

Border City went one point clear at the top of Division Four following a comfortable 4-0 home success over Dent Reserves, while Penrith Academy drew 1-1 with Penrith Saints and Ullswater United narrowly defeated Carleton Banks 3-2.
