CARTMEL Reserves progressed into the third round of the Alan Shanks/Fisher/Howson Remembrance Cup after brushing aside lower league opposition Boys Club Reserves.

Cartmel, beaten only once in the last five seasons in this competition, ran out 3-1 winners thanks to goals from Billy Garnett, Will Anderson and Cameron Young. The lone strike for Boys Club was from Jamie Ferrington, his first of the season. Cartmel will now play the winners of the Heysham Reserves v Highgrove Reserves tie.

Elsewhere in the cup a double from Millhead's Zak McCamm saw them through to the next round at the expense of College AFC Reserves.

In round three Millhead will be at home to the winners of the Carnforth Rangers ‘A’ or Carnforth Rangers Reserves tie.

In the Premier Division of the Baines Bagguley Penhale North Lancashire and District Football League, Carnforth Rangers, second in the division, made the trip to play Ingleton. Ingleton took full advantage of an injury-hit Carnforth outfit and ran out 4-3 victors.

Meanwhile ten-men Cartmel were unlucky not to pick up maximum points against Galgate. Graham Rhodes scored the goal for Cartmel with Chris Gardner equalising for Galgate.

Marsh United edged a five-goal thriller over Bowerham while Morecambe Royals were winners away at College AFC.

In Division One Arnside lost for the sixth time in a row as Millhead recorded back-to-back wins to move out of a relegation place.

Mayfield United were too good for Bolton Le Sands in a 3-0 win while Carnforth Rangers Reserves were 4-2 winners over Kirkby Lonsdale.

Lancaster Rovers were held to a 1-1 draw by relegation haunted TIC Dyn/Overton/Middleton while Swarthmoor Social Club kept the pressure up on Mayfield in a 5-4 win over Westgate Wanderers.

In Division Two the local derby between Caton United Reserves and Ingleton Reserves ended in a comfortable 4-2 win for Ingleton and C.C Wanderers got back to winning ways after a long losing streak when they comfortably beat AFC Moorlands.

In Division Three Lancaster Rovers Reserves played improving Carnforth Rangers ‘A’ side and led until the last minute. Matthew Squirrell scored a peach of a goal, Phil Johnston added a second after some good team play. Nathan Winder had scored for Carnforth to set up a grandstand finish with Carnforth throwing everything at the Rovers. Some poor defending allowed Winder to steal in for his second and equalising goal in a game the Rovers really should have won.

In Division Four the young Carnforth Rangers Youth team secured a 1-1 draw away at AFC Moorlands Reserves but the match of the day was undoubtedly between leaders FC Brittania and second placed Arnside Reserves. The former ran out 4-1 winners.
