A FROZEN pitch put paid to any chances of play between Windermere Mens 1s and Lymm last Saturday.

Weather-permitting the match will now be played on Saturday with a 1pm pushback at the Lakes School.

However, Wilmslow did play at Rhyl and only drew 2-2 so Mere 1s are still five points clear at the top of North West Div 1 with a game in hand.

Windermere Men's 2s closed to within two points of second place in North West Div 5NN with an outstanding 3-0 away win at Leyland & Chorley 2s.

Aidan McDougall converted at close range to open the scoring, Steven Dunlop added a sizzling short corner drag flick and then, in the second half, Richie Jackson added a decisive third goal with a trademark reverse stick strike. Man of the match was Jasper Helms.

Then, on Sunday, Windermere U18s beat Wakefield, Doncaster and Ben Rhydding in the northern regional round of their National Indoor Hockey Competition at Bradford.

But defeats by Preston and Bowden prevented them from progressing to the finals in Birmingham.
