Penrith A XV 34 - 19 Windermere

PENRITH XV moved ahead of Windermere in the Northern Division after victory at Winters Park.

The match got underway with Penrith looking organised, playing some good phases with forwards carrying well and supporting each other well.

They scored the first try of the game when Ross Jackson at scrum half darted through a gap to cross the line. The conversion was missed.

Penrith’s second try came when Dan Richardson charged down a clearance kick and Jackson scored the points before Samm Dudson converted.

Windermere then got right back into the game and scored two tries of their own to make the scores 12-12 with twenty minutes left.

After some good recycling from back-row men Wilson, Mahler and Wiper it was scrum half Dan Nield who burrowed his way over the try line from close range.

Windermere were at this point very much in the game and on top and moments later a large gap was found in midfield which Jack Holmes exploited brilliantly to score under the posts.

Penrith then added two more scores of their own to take the score to 27-12.

One returning kick was taken by Jon Fell who ran through the middle to score, which Dudson converted, 19-12.

Shortly after the same thing happened but Fell did need help from Dudson, who passed it back, for Fell to score and Dudson to convert.

Joe Aris added another try before Dudson put a penalty between the posts to secure the win.

Windermere welcome Moresby to Dawes Meadow this Saturday.
