REGISTRATION is now open for next year's Ulverston Triathlon.

The race is the opening event of the NW Epic Triathlon series and takes place Sunday April 5.

The 400m swim takes place in Ulverston Leisure Centre and is followed by an undulating, 28k out and back coastal cycle ride.

The 5.8k run section gives runners the opportunity to 'turn the tables' on their cycling compatriots.

Swimmers start from 9am through to noon based upon ability level and will complete 16 lengths of a 25m pool.

The 28k bike course starts at the swimming pool and then follows the coast road to Rampside roundabout.

From there the route retraces its steps back to the swimming pool.

The running route follows tarmac roads but includes canal towpath.

Leaving the leisure centre it passes Smith Glaxo Kline to reach the coast at the Bay Horse Hotel.

From here the route follows the canal towpath before crossing the canal and returning to the swimming pool on road, to finish the event.

Solo entry costs £30 and team of 3 (one discipline each) is £45.

Other races in the series included Clitheroe, Horwich and Wirral.
