BRANTHWAITE have moved ahead of St Lukes at the top of Division One in the Westmorland Badminton League with crushing away wins against Bowness and Kirkby Stephen, coupled with an 18-0 home win against Dalton.

The bottom club, Strickland, enjoyed their best result of the season but it was not good enough as they lost out 12-6 to Kendal.

In Division Two St Lukes A are not giving up the chase to topple Branthwaite A but are going to find it difficult despite wins against Grange and Branthwaite B.

Grange earlier had a good win against the bottom club Heversham A to ease their relegation fears.

The top two teams in Division Three met each other with Strickland A looking to avenge their earlier season defeat at home to Sedbergh.

The teams were evenly matched and fought out a draw so Sedbergh retain top spot and are favourites to win the division.

The bottom two clubs also met this week with Sedbergh A narrowly beating Ingleton 10-8 which condemned Ingleton to bottom place - two points behind Sedbergh A.

Ambleside A had a busy two weeks with mixed results. They brushed aside Heversham B (17-1) then themselves were heavily beaten by the league leaders (15 - 3) before finally beating their nearest neighbours Bowness A (13-5)
