ULVERSTON Otter Joshua Turner swept aside the opposition to win four top spots as the club made their mark on the Cumbria Winter meet at Workington.

Renowned as a middle distance swimmer he faced a block of events all, 100m or above.

The 13-year-old set about his task with lots of youthful exuberance, power and a superb all round stroke technique.

At both 100m Butterfly and Freestyle he reigned supreme putting himself on the front, setting a searing pace and storming to devastating wins in both events.

He then turned to the Medleys taking another first in the 100m but had to be content with second place in the 200m and 400m.

Turning to the 200m Backstroke he made another magnificent effort to lift the title holding off every challenge in the process.

Two of the girls, Anna Morrison and Georgina Milburn, contested in 16 events between them. They enjoyed huge success with both notching a hat trick of wins.

Shannon Parker, ten, put herself on the map with a trio of fantastic wins at 50m Breaststroke, 100m and 200m Individual Medley.

Another impressive winning treble went to Patrick Cush with brilliant efforts at 100m Individual Medley, 200m Backstroke and 200m Breaststroke.

Others who got into the action were Katie Miller in the 50m Backstroke sprint, Taylor Aplin, 200m Individual Medley and Niall Cush, 100m Individual Medley.

Minor place awards also went to Adam Jones, Starr Huntington, Rhiannon Ellis and Amelia Mardel to round off a highly successful meet for the club.
