THE Bentham Bomber Tomi Tatham has his next victim in his sights declaring 'I want to knock him out'.

Tatham is squaring up to do battle with Elvis Dube of Derby at Preston's Guild Hall on Saturday, February 28.

According to the 25-year-old he is in top physical shape.

"It's happy days," said Tatham.

"It's pretty close to my last fight so I have not really been out of the boxing gym since then. I'm still very fit."

Tatham has been training above and beyond what is required for a six round bout in order to make sure he is too good for the journeyman Dube who has lost 32 of his 40 fights, drawing two and winning six.

Tatham said: "I'm doing a six round fight but I've just done my first 10 rounds last week so I know my fitness is there but whether the big occasion gets to me I'm not too sure but sparring is feeling good.

"My chin has been tested and it's fine, I don't need to worry about that. If I can catch the lads I've been sparring with then I can catch him - I've been doing a lot of speed work."

The former Lancaster and Morecambe College student is so confident of victory he was willing to release his game plan.

He said: "He's shorter than me so I'm going to pop the jab a lot and give him something to think about. I'll try to catch him on the side of the head as I really want to knock him out. I haven't had that in a while so I want to get back to doing what I do best. He's not the best fighter I've ever fought but we were struggling to get an opponent. I'm hoping that for my next fight, my manager will get me a real test."

Tatham suffered a broken hand earlier in his career, an injury that required an operation and still pains him today.

He was warned by doctors that it could hurt for up to a year and a half after the operation but he isputting it to the back of his mind as he says it 'feels fine' and that he's 'not worried'.

A bumper crowd is expected for the fight, with Tatham selling more than 150 tickets by himself.

"Sometimes you need the fans there to roar you on and get you through," said Tatham.

Tatham’s six-round contest is part of a big VIP Promotions bill with Cumbria’s unbeaten light middleweight Skelton facing the experienced Bradley Pryce in the main event.
