6:18pm Saturday 3rd March 2007 in Sport By Dennis Aris
Kendal 14, Huddersfield 7.
After a pointless first half in which a succession of failed touch kicks and lost lineouts continually surrendered possession to Huddersfield, Kendal's woes were compounded midway through the second half when the visitors burst though from 15 metres to score a converted try under the posts.
Kendal replied with a trademark well-worked down the line attack for winger John Ladell to speed over on the right. Andrew Boardley, taking over from normal kicker Patrick Tuhakarina who had been having a bad afternoon, slotted over the conversion to put Kendal on terms.
No further score looked likely until the very end when Boardley, at scrum half, picked up from a scrum eight metres out from the Kendal line and hoisted a long kick downfield.
It fell nicely into open space and John Ladell kicked on before gathering and running in under the posts to give Boardley an easy conversion.
