THINGS are getting tense for Kendal Town in the UniBond League Premier Division and this weekend brings a must win home match against fellow strugglers Leek Town.
Leek, six points behind Town, but with two games in hand, occupy the key 19th place in the table - the final relegation slot - so a tough game can be expected between two determined outfits when the Staffordshire side visit Town's Planet Conservatories Stadium tomorrow (Saturday). Kick-off is at 3pm.
LOCAL football brings a fascinating clash between sides from different leagues when Kirkby Lonsdale, from the North Lancashire Premier Division, entertain Milnthorpe Corinthians, from Division Two of the West Lancs League, in a Westmorland Senior Cup semi-final. Kick-off at Kirkby is at 2pm.
KENDAL Rugby Club will be bidding to return to form after the disappointments of recent weeks with a trip to Chester, a win would consolidate a finish in the upper half of North Division One for Kendal.
KENDAL Men's hockey side are in deep relegation danger after going down 5-1 to lowly Cheetham Hill last weekend. Tomorrow they are at home on the Cinder Ovens all-weather pitch (2.30pm) where they desperately need a win over mid-table Southport 3s.
