CUMBRIA Golf Clubs is inviting people to ‘Get into Golf’ by learning the game at subsidised sessions.

During the winter months, golf clubs and ranges across Cumbria have been planning ‘Get into Golf’ beginner sessions for the spring for people interested in having a go.

Now they are all set to welcome potential new or lapsed players who would like to brush up on their skills to come along to special subsidised sessions with a fully qualified Professional Coach.

Get into Golf sessions are normally five weeks of one hour group lessons for £25, but thanks to funding secured through Active Cumbria, clubs are able to offer 10 weeks of lessons for the same price.

To support this exciting opportunity, many clubs are offering taster sessions and having open days so you can find out more. Up until last year there were only six Get into Golf Centres across the County, but new clubs have been supported to join the programme and there are now over 20 golf clubs inviting people to come and get involved.

Many sessions are starting at the end of March and into April – there is bound to be one local to you, ensuring beginners are up to speed and ready to make the most of the summer months to play, develop and join in competitions at their local club or range. This is a limited offer, after these Spring sessions the Get into Golf beginner sessions will go back to being five weeks for £25 – still great value, but if you have ever thought of trying the game, now is the time to make the most of this great offer.

To find out what is happening locally to you visit the National Get into Golf website www.getintogolf.org and enter your postcode, or contact Becky Underwood at Active Cumbria.

Becky Underwood, Development Officer at Active Cumbria said: “Cumbrian Golf Clubs & Ranges are amazing places, every one is different and offers something unique, be it a specific course, an extensive Pro Shop, a fantastic bar and club house, but one thing they all have in common is a warm welcome to people who might like to learn the game, or just come along to see what is there.

"Often they are along a quiet road on the edge of the town, but they all make the most of Cumbria’s spectacular landscape, I would encourage anyone to go along and see what’s there.

"The Get into Golf course is an ideal way to learn the game with a qualified professional and Spring is a great time to get outdoors.”
