ONLY a handful of games survived the weather in The Westmorland League, on a miserable afternoon of football.

In Westmorland League Division One, Keswick climbed up to second following a hard fought 3-0 home victory over Sedbergh Wanderers.

Nathan Turners goal helped Kendal United to a 1-1 draw at Wetheriggs United, with Wetheriggs dropping crucial points in their title quest for the title.

In Westmorland League Division Two, a Phil Edmondson hat-trick helped Coniston up to second following a hard fought 3-2 win over Wetheriggs United Reserves, while Braithwaite edged out Staveley Utd in a 3-2 win at The Braithwaite Institute Field.

Very little happened in Westmorland League Division Three, with Appleby Reserves coming out 2-0 winners against Windermere in The Peter Daws Memorial Shield – Alistair Smith was on target.

Westmorland League Division Four also fell victim to the rain over the weekend, with two Austin Wren Cup games surviving, as Border City defeated Penrith Academy 2-1 and Ullswater United won 3-1 at Eamont Rovers.

Greystoke Reserves did manage to play on Monday night and their bid for survival in Division Four was given a boost as they defeated Ullswater United 1-0, . The game played in horrendous weather conditions but was sealed by a Liam Kirk strike deciding that one.

Greystoke remain bottom of the league, but are now within touching distance of those teams above them.

n CARNFORTH Rangers couldn't build on their Lancashire Amateur Cup triumph as they crashed out of the Sam Price Memorial Cup at the semi-final stage.

In-form Cartmel and District haven’t lost a game since the end of October and then booked a spot in the final at the Giant-Axe on April 20, where they will meet Ingleton.

Carnforth were missing several key players and also had the misfortune of playing the opening 20 minutes with 10 men, when a car carrying players got lost on the way to Cartmel.

Despite the handicap Carnforth lost to Cartmel 3-0, with managed to keep it tight early on, but they were powerless to stop Cartmel cruising to victory in the end, with goals from Matthew Burrows, Joel Drinkall and Adam Harding securing their side the win.
