THE Kendal and District Bowling League has got under way and Bowness A got off to a flying start in Division One at newly-promoted Burton A, running out 8-2 winners.
Title holders Victoria A beat Burneside A by the same scoreline and there was also 8-2 wins for Levens A at home to Lower Holker A and Netherfield A against fellow club members Netherfield B.
Crosthwaite A, recently relegated to Division Two, are looking to bounce straight back up to Division One and got off to a flying start with a 9-1 win at home to Arnside A.
Newly-promoted Netherfield C were also in commanding form as they also won 9-1 at home to Levens B.
In Division Three, Abbot Hall team used their home advantage to secure a 8-2 win over Allithwaite A and Lindale B, promoted from Division Four last season, did the same against recently relegated Ingleborough A.
And in the battle of the Ambleside teams, the A team came out on top against the B team 7-3 in a close match.
Newly-promoted Burton B first result of the season in Division Four was one of the best in the league away from home as they won 9-1 at Kings Arms Hale C.
Steady starts came from Subscription B at home to newly promoted Levens C, winning 8-2, while Sedbergh and Heversham A won by the same scoreline against Milnthorpe B and Netherfield D respectively.
In the newly configured Fifth Division, last year’s second place in Kent section Victoria C won at home to Heversham B 8-2 and Subscription C won at home to Windermere C 8-2 to put them at the top of their league.
And Lower Holker C and Endmoor B both enjoyed 7-3 wins - Lower Holker at home to Holme D and Endmoor B at Allithwaite C.
